The plain-English ground rules for booking, deposits and having your car worked on at Yorkshire Car Restoration. Please read these before placing a deposit or dropping a vehicle off — booking work means you accept them.
01Agreement
These terms apply to all work carried out by Yorkshire Car Restoration (“YCR”, “we”, “us”, “our”) for you, the customer. By paying a deposit, booking a slot, or leaving a vehicle with us, you confirm you have read, understood and accepted these terms in full.
These terms form the agreement between us. Anything discussed in person, by phone, WhatsApp or email that changes them is only binding if we confirm it to you in writing.
02Deposits & Booking
All deposits paid to book work, repairs or restorations are non-refundable. This is because we operate a limited booking schedule and can only take on a small number of vehicles at a time.
When you pay a deposit, we reserve a slot in the workshop specifically for your vehicle and turn away or decline other work to keep that slot free for you. For that reason a deposit is a commitment, not a holding fee, and it cannot be refunded if you later change your mind, cancel, or do not proceed.
- A deposit secures your place in the schedule and confirms your booking.
- Deposits are non-refundable in all circumstances where you choose not to proceed, including cancellation, delay on your side, or a change of plans.
- The deposit is deducted from the final balance for the work once the job is completed.
- If we are unable to carry out the work for reasons entirely on our side, we will discuss a fair resolution with you, which may include rescheduling or, at our discretion, returning the deposit.
Please only pay a deposit once you are certain you want to go ahead.
03Quotes & Estimates
Restoration and repair work is, by its nature, difficult to price exactly up front. Any figure we give before starting is an estimate based on the information and access we have at the time.
Older vehicles regularly hide corrosion, previous poor repairs, seized components or damage that only becomes visible once work begins. Where this happens we will contact you to discuss the additional work and cost before proceeding wherever practical.
04Payment & Balances
- Stage payments may be requested during longer restorations; these keep the project moving and cover parts and labour already carried out.
- The final balance is due on completion, before the vehicle leaves the workshop or is delivered.
- We reserve the right to retain the vehicle until all sums owed have been paid in full.
- Parts and materials remain our property until paid for.
05Timescales
Any timescale we give is a good-faith estimate, not a guarantee. Restoration timelines shift with the discovery of hidden work, parts availability, sub-contractor schedules (paint, plating, machining, upholstery) and filming. We will keep you updated and always aim to be realistic.
06Parts & Materials
Where original parts are unavailable we will use the best-quality reproduction, refurbished or fabricated alternative available, and let you know. Some classic and rare parts have long lead times or come from third parties outside our control.
Any manufacturer warranty on supplied parts is passed to you where one exists; we do not provide our own warranty on parts we did not manufacture.
07Workmanship
We take real pride in our work and stand behind it. If you believe there is a fault with work we have carried out, contact us as soon as possible and give us a fair opportunity to inspect and put it right.
Our workmanship guarantee does not cover: normal wear and tear; faults arising from parts you supplied; issues caused by misuse, accident, modification or work by others after the vehicle leaves us; or the condition of areas of the vehicle we were not engaged to work on.
08Storage & Vehicle at Your Risk
While every reasonable care is taken, vehicles and parts are left with us at your own risk. You are responsible for keeping your own insurance in place while the vehicle is in our care.
- Please remove all personal belongings before leaving the vehicle; we accept no responsibility for items left inside.
- Vehicles left more than 14 days after completion and notification may incur a reasonable storage charge.
- We are not liable for deterioration of a vehicle already in poor or non-running condition.
09Filming, Photography & Media
Yorkshire Car Restoration documents builds on YouTube and social media. Unless you tell us otherwise in writing before work begins, you agree that your vehicle and the work carried out may be filmed and photographed, and that this content may be published and used by us for promotional purposes.
If you would prefer your vehicle not to feature, just let us know in advance and we will respect that.
10Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited under law. Subject to that, our total liability in connection with any work is limited to the amount you have paid us for that work.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of use of the vehicle, loss of value, or costs of alternative transport.
11Cancellation by You
You may cancel booked work at any time. As set out in section 02, any deposit paid is non-refundable. If work has already begun, you will also be charged for labour carried out and parts or materials ordered or used up to the point of cancellation.
12Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
